  1. We recently discovered that the PTM software is no longer available from the HPLabs website. We have placed both the Mac and Windows versions of the PTMFitter in a dropbox along with the license file from HP. You can get the software from here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jfsy0lhxu6zv4i4/AADJpq6E_GJmNw_s5C8r94CVa?dl=0 Also - many papers on PTM and RTI are by Tom Malzbender - and you can find them on his personal website: https://sites.google.com/site/tommalzbender/
  2. Dear All, Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am attempting to create RTI's for my masters thesis, and am coming across the same error messages regardless of what I do. Both HSH and PTM have the same error messages (With the name swapped per method) that pop up in sequence 1 through to 3. I've attached images of the error pop-ups. I have created both HSH and PTM on this PC without issue before, and not moved where either of the fitters are, or the files used, but for some reason I can no longer create RTI. I am running a Windows 10 64bit OS, with AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor and 16GB RAM. I've checked the file pathways and dont see any spaces or things to cause issue - but have copied the file pathways below: L:\Diss_Images\A_Relief_RTI_img (There is then the jpeg-exports folder within) C:\RTIbuilder_v2_0_2 C:\RTIbuilder_v2_0_2\Fitters (Both PTM and HSH fitters are stored here.) If there's any more information I can provide that would help diagnose this issue please ask. Thanks in advance, Luke
  3. Hello, I am relatively new to RTI, but have successfully used the software a few times. I keep getting stuck on the sphere detection step of my latest project, which is a highlight-based PTM fitter. I crop out the spheres, hit sphere detection, but once it's done the next button is still not click-able. I have deleted the project and restarted several times to no avail. I was able to make a highlight-based HSH fitter with the same piece. What am I doing wrong
  4. We get asked this question a lot, so I thought I'd post it here in the FAQ! The file format specification for PTM is available from the HP website here: http://www.hpl.hp.com/research/ptm/downloads/PtmFormat12.pdf The file Format Specification for the RTI file format was previously posted here in the forums, and I am attaching it here as well. Note that it is marked "draft" because it contemplates a .xmp structure embedded in the file structure, and that part was still under discussion when this document was created. The format for the RTI data is final, and this is what is used by the RTIViewer and other viewers that support this format. Carla rti_format_final-draft.pdf
  5. Hey! I have problems during the execution of the builder with the PTM Fitter. It start cropping images but at the end appears the "unknow error" message, and in the upper right of the windows the message is "unlnow file format: .JPG". I've tried changing the extensions in .jpg (downsizing) and in .jpeg (maybe the program can only read .jpeg..), but nothing change. Every time I've made I change I started a new project, just to be sure I did not commit any error. With the HSH Fitter everything is okay! P.s. When I tried upload the folder with the "jpeg-exports" the builder do not start uploading images and he glitch the hourglass. I had to brutally close the program. I tried many times many combinations but nothing.
  6. We are thrilled to announce the release of RTIViewer 1.1. The new features in this release are the ones most requested by our users. You can read about the new features and download the release (windows and mac versions), user guide and examples on the RTIViewer page. This software is available as free open source software. Cultural Heritage Imaging is a small independent nonprofit organization and we need donations from people like you who use and value these tools in order to keep doing the releases. Please help us by making a donation to support this work. We want to gratefilly acknowledge the efforts of Ron Bourret, Gianpaolo Palma, and Leif Isaksen for the development work that went into this release. Much of the work was performaed as volunteers. We also want to thank Judy Bogart for doing the User Guide updates and descriptions for the new features. We had some beta testers for the release, and we thank them for their time and effort to try things out and report issues. And finally, we thank all the members of the CHI team for the work tooversee the release including setting the requirements for the release, testing it and providing feedback in every phase of development, running the beta testing program, identifying and reviewing the user guide updates, and all the other tasks that go with getting something like this done and out. Enjoy! Carla
