Buying a Dome

Dear all, 

I''m looking for Dome manufacturers. To my understanding in most case studies the Domes are custom build, but I was wondering if there is someone, most preferably in Europe, that manufactures domes.

There's a company called Truvis based in Europe that sells a dome. $24,000 dollars, a terrible design, and proprietary software. Check this post for more details and links.

 

 

Build your own - it will be a lot cheaper.

Thanks for posting the RTI-dome.com - We're not familiar with them.  It appears to be a small dome for insects and other very small subjects.

I built a simple dome back in 2009 when I worked for Wessex Archaeology. You can see the build process here:

If you have a few spare days, and are handy with a soldering iron, you could build your own relatively cheaply.

I shared my methods and what I learned building it with the University of Southampton project which seemed to inform some of the features of the domes that are being made today.
